It's been a great half-season of basketball, with plenty of surprises and breakout players. Beisbol has had a strong showing so far into the season, leapfrogging teams from #7, to now being ranked #2, due to their near victory against the staff team, and loss in OT against Rags N Forces while missing two starters. Team Both has remained dominant in all their match-ups, the closest call being their clash against Rulez Fan Club. Rags N Forces remains a threat due to their long-range shooting, and the Sky-hooks with their all-around solid play. The 86ers, A.W.G.E, and Rulez Fan Club have emerged as the top Junior teams. Mac and Beans, a freshman team, has been carried from their 3-0 start to #10 in the rankings, surpassing senior teams like the Magic Men and DATMJ. The Dons haven't had the start that they would have liked, but they remain a still dangerous team. One of the bigger surprises has been The Power Rangers, who carry a 4-0 record, and have walked away with victories against opponents outside of the top 10, and look to continue the momentum against some tougher competition. Thanks to all for a great first half of the season, and it's shaping up to be an exciting finish towards the start of the tournament.

Preseason has come to an end, and for the official start of the season, these are the teams at the head of the pack. Many new teams and faces hit the court this season, with the creation of the Sky-Hooks, Rags N Forces, and Beisbol. They look to shake up the league this season, and it's sure to be exciting. Final Regular Season Rankings

A Regular Season dominated by senior teams came to a close Monday as Faculty put away The Step-Backs to finish 6-0. The Step-Backs finish the season as the unanimous number one, while The Flock, Average Johns, and Dolph Ain't Done Yet are packed closely together for spots 2-4. Iced Out finished their season undefeated, and move into fifth-place, while fan (and voter) favorite Oozma Kappa rounds out the top six.

December Rankings

The season is well underway and the main surprise has been the lopsided games. The Average Johns had a 20 point win over VVS, Spaghettios had a 25 point win over Oozma Kappa, and The Step-Backs had a 47 point victory over Cactus Squad. The Step-Backs followed that up with another impressive game as they beat the second-ranked Flock.

A new season is about to begin, and with former league champs Practice Squad and Born Stars both having graduated, the league is wide open this year. The early consensus is that the Senior class will reign over the league, as Senior teams make up the top four teams.

Tournament time is almost here! As we conclude the regular Intramural season, the staff gives its last rankings out before the madness begins. Born Stars stay at #1 receiving all 7 1st place votes even after taking a loss from The Flock. The Flock took 6/7 2nd places votes, and Practice Squad took 6/7 3rd place votes. 5, 6, and 7 received all the votes in their respected places. Tourney time is right around the corner, so the bracket will be out soon! Here are the rankings:

The first half of the season is over! We’ve had some exciting games play out in the early season like The Flocks upset win over Skillz, Born Stars win against Practice Squad a week after being dropped from #1 to #2, and of course, Faculty/Staff losing for the first time in 6 years to Practice Squad in 2OT! Pre-Thanksgiving Rankings

Here are the Scouts new rankings: We chose to vote for 7 teams this time instead of 5, so the #1 team got 7 points, #2 got 6 points, etc. Practice Squad received 4/7 1st place votes & 3 2nd place votes giving them a total of 46 points. Born Stars received 3/7 first place votes, The Flock received 6/7 3rd place votes and 1 4th place vote. MK Buns jumped into the rankings with 1 3rd place vote, 4 4th place votes, and 2 5th place votes. Skillz Ain't Done Yet dropped to #5 with 2 4th place votes and 5 5th place votes. Tune Squad, an impressive freshman team made it in with 4 6th place votes, and 3 7th place votes. DJ Khaled dropped 2 spots to #7 with 2 6th place votes and 3 7th place votes. Big Silky Smooth missed the cut, but they did get 1 6th place vote and 1 7th place vote. Remember BALL IS LIFE!

NEW RULE CHANGE!

Alright, so the BJIM Scouts decided to incorporate this rule to help make games more interesting, so here it is:

If a game has 30 seconds or less, with a 5 point lead/deficit or less (2 possessions), then a shooting foul that is made ("and 1") has 1 live free throw. A non-shooting foul will consist of 1 automatic point and also 1 live free throw. A shooting foul that is missed will stay the same at 2 automatic points. Also, the clock will stop for the free throws, and it will also stop when the ball goes out of bounds. Remember, all of this will only happen with 30 seconds or less, and a 5 point lead/deficit or less (2 possessions). We're hoping this rule will make the games more interesting, especially in playoff time.

2016-2017 Season

A new season is upon us! Gather your teams and get ready for an exciting Intramural Basketball Season! With defending champs, The Born Stars, looking to go for a 2-peat, they'll be the team to beat, but with news that former Brebeuf basketball player, Luke Iffert, not playing this year, the Practice Squad will be a tough competitor. Also, junior teams like Skillz that Killz and the Flock will look to make a run on the competition, and hopefully bring a championship to their squads. The season is almost ready to start. Good luck to everyone and remember, BALL IS LIFE!

A week that saw The Practice Squad not play didn't hurt them much. They lost one vote to BTPU, but continued to stay at #1. BTPU and Papa Weaves got back to the top three only trailing Practice Squad who was not a team in preseason rankings. The big news is the Sophomores beating the Seniors. That Lip and Wild Wankuhs fell to Skillz and The flock. Here are your new rankings

Practice Squad got the number 1 spot receiving every 1st place vote. They were not a team when the last rankings came out. BTPU slides down to the 3rd spot and Papa Weaves down to the 5 spot after getting all of the 1st and 2nd place votes in the first poll. Practice Squad gained Bo Richey over thanksgiving break, and Connor Fisher rejoined Papa Weaves. That Lip moved up to number 2. Skillz dropped out of the top five mostly because the addition of Practice Squad.

Player of the Week Nov 16- Nov 20

Andrew Macy won this weeks POTW leading his team to a big win over BTPU. Macy battled another former basketball player Josh Bonifield in a hard fought game. Nick McDonald, Elliott Moore, and Rex Hourigan also had big weeks and were considered. Nick went 3/4 from 3 and Elliott scored 13 in the loss.
